Cardiology experts from across the globe will share findings and techniques, including video of live patient procedures
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — March 4, 2024 — Today marks the start of the 20th anniversary Scottsdale Interventional Forum (SIF), one of the nation’s premier showcases for innovation in cardiovascular health, hosted by SIF Founder and CEO David G. Rizik, M.D., in association with HonorHealth Research Institute.
The four-day event, which draws hundreds of the world’s leading cardiologists, nurses, technologists and industry representatives, runs March 4–7 at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess.
“We have leveraged the success of Scottsdale Interventional Forum as a format to attract the world’s leading researchers and innovators in heart and vascular medicine to Scottsdale for an exchange of ideas,” said Dr. Rizik, medical director of the Research Institute’s Cardiovascular Research Division.
This year’s Forum will emphasize novel therapies for the repair and replacement of heart valves, including the latest innovations in transcatheter aortic valve replacement, or TAVR, and mitral valve repair and replacement (TMVR). Non-surgical valve therapy such as TAVR was famously used in 2019 when Rolling Stones lead singer Mick Jagger had to temporarily stop the band’s tour because the energetic 75-year-old frontman needed a new aortic heart valve. The tour resumed in less than four months.
According to Dr Rizik, “The beauty these of less invasive valve therapies is a shorter recovery time compared to surgery and patients can resume their active lifestyle much sooner.”
The Forum will also feature as many as 11 live cardiovascular procedures, televised remotely from the nearby campus of HonorHealth’s Scottsdale Shea Medical Center and elsewhere.
“SIF has brought the best and the brightest in the country to Scottsdale, focused here at HonorHealth Research Institute on new research, new device innovation and new technologies,” said Dr. Rizik, a leading innovator in the field of heart disease, which is the nation’s leading cause of death. Dr. Rizik is board-certified in Interventional Cardiology and Internal Medicine. A distinguished researcher in interventional cardiology and structural heart disease, Dr. Rizik has published more than 100 manuscripts and book chapters.
The Forum’s focus on March 7 is a day-long symposium for nursing specialists and patient care technologists.
SIF’s world-class faculty provides an in-depth understanding of disease mechanisms, advanced diagnostic imaging, problem-solving, complex disease management, and the latest therapeutic options. The course includes a series of high-level didactic lectures and case presentations.
