About

Daniel Smoots, MD, is a fellowship-trained headache medicine specialist with comprehensive expertise in treating a wide spectrum of headache disorders. His specialized training from Mass General Brigham/Harvard’s Neurology Department equips him to manage complex conditions including migraine, chronic daily headache, cluster headache, and various facial pain syndromes.

Dr. Smoots offers an extensive range of specialized treatments including Botox injections, nerve blocks (occipital and trigeminal), trigger point injections, and sphenopalatine ganglion blocks. He provides comprehensive headache assessments, diagnostic testing, and consultation for noninvasive neuromodulation therapies. His practice encompasses customized medication management with both preventative and abortive therapies, along with lifestyle and behavioral modification counseling.

His approach to headache medicine emphasizes a patient-centered approach that integrates evidence-based treatments with a holistic understanding of each individual’s experience. Dr. Smoots prioritizes thorough evaluations to identify underlying causes and contributing factors, allowing him to develop tailored treatment plans that address not only the headaches themselves but also lifestyle and emotional well-being. He focuses strongly on prevention through education about triggers and coping strategies, working collaboratively with patients to empower them in their recovery journey.

Originally from Gig Harbor, Washington, he brings a balanced approach to both his medical practice and personal life. Outside of his dedication to patient care, he enjoys staying active through hiking, running, and playing doubles pickleball with his wife. This commitment to an active lifestyle helps inform his holistic approach to patient care and well-being.
