As a board-certified colorectal surgeon, Dr. Makarwo's knowledge and experience allow him to offer patients a high level of expertise through various surgical and nonsurgical treatments. During each encounter he aims to efficiently diagnose the underlying problem and then as efficiently as possible offer the appropriate treatment needed.Throughout this time, he tries his best to alleviate any anxiety his patients may have particularly at a time that they feel most vulnerable.

Dr. Makarawo has extensive experience in clinical research, with multiple peer reviewed publications and national podium presentations to his credit. He also has experience in medical education as an invited speaker and instructor of students and clinical practitioners at multiple levels and from varied specialties.

Dr. Makarawo offers minimally invasive abdominal surgery particularly robotic surgery having trained and worked alongside some of the national forerunners in the application of this surgical modality for colorectal diseases. He uses these surgical techniques to offer treatment for colon and rectal cancer, diverticular disease and rectal prolapse. Dr. Makarawo also has a particular interest in all aspects of benign anorectal disease including hemorrhoids, anal fissures and anal fistulas as well as pelvic floor disorders, fecal incontinence, constipation and diagnostic endoscopy.
