Rheumatology Fellowship Program
The HonorHealth rheumatology fellowship is a two-year ACGME-accredited training program designed to provide comprehensive training in clinical rheumatology and related areas of clinical research. The goal of this program is to prepare rheumatologists for careers in clinical practice, clinical research and clinical education in rheumatology. The mission of this program is to equip graduates to handle compelling clinical, scientific and public health challenges in rheumatology.
The HonorHealth rheumatology fellowship is designed to ensure that graduating fellows are clinically competent rheumatologists capable of working in a variety of settings. They possess habits of lifelong learning that enable them to build upon their knowledge, skills and professionalism.
Our fellowship program offers training opportunities at multiple sites with a variety of patients, as well as mentorship by a large pool of faculty from diverse backgrounds.
Training sites include rheumatology clinics and inpatient service at HonorHealth and Phoenix VA Health Care System, dedicated pediatric rheumatology training under the mentorship of board-certified pediatric rheumatologists at Phoenix Children’s Hospital and community rheumatology exposure at the largest rheumatology group practice in Arizona. Our rheumatology fellowship program provides dedicated musculoskeletal radiology training with academic board-certified musculoskeletal radiologists, as well as comprehensive exposure to clinical research at HonorHealth Research and Innovation Institute.
The HonorHealth rheumatology fellowship program offers comprehensive training in musculoskeletal ultrasonography. This allows graduating fellows to become eligible for RhMSUS certification through the American College of Rheumatology and comprehensive training in interpreting DEXA studies to become eligible for the Certified Clinical Densitometrist (CCD®) exam via the International Society of Clinical Densitometry (ISCD).
Rheumatology fellows have the opportunity to choose from a wide variety of elective rotations at various clinical and academic sites throughout Arizona. They will also have protected time for research and be able to participate in a variety of clinical trials at HonorHealth Research and Innovation Institute.
The program aligns with HonorHealth's ICARE values (Innovation, Collaboration, Accountability, Respect and Empathy) and mission to improve the health and well-being of those we serve.
