Newborn warning signs: When to call your baby’s doctor
Warning signs may include:
- Your baby seems listless and/or doesn't seem alert when awake
- Your baby refuses to eat or doesn't eat in his/her usual way
- Your baby cries more than normal, or the cry is different than normal
- Your baby breathes in a different way — slower, faster or more noisily
- Your baby has a temperature of 100.4 degrees or higher (taken under the arm)
- Your baby vomits more than once (different than normal spit up)
- Your baby has fewer wet or dirty diapers
- Your baby has stools containing mucus, blood or a foul odor
- Your baby's skin or whites of the eyes appear yellow
- Your baby just seems sick
