Master Clinician Educator Pathway

Residents have many opportunities to engage in teaching. We have medical students from the University of Arizona, Midwestern University, and other visiting students throughout the year. Residents also participate in the Medical Explorer’s Club – a pipeline program for high school students interested in medicine.

To “teach the teacher”, we created the Master Clinician Educator Pathway. This is an extracurricular series for residents, fellows, and faculty from any program to develop their skills as teachers and form a community of practice educators.

Over dinner, these workshop-style sessions are spread throughout the year and have covered topics such as:

  • Adult learning theory – evidence-based learning strategies
  • Simulation
  • Giving feedback
  • Learning styles – fact or myth
  • Teaching clinical reasoning
